Funny Fridays: Thursdays..Not the New Fridays

So my girl friends and I decided to get together for a dinner last night in the Marina, catch up, and have a few much needed drinks. Well...It was a great idea at the time, but today I'm thinking we could have stuck to just dinner. I would be enjoying the fact that it is Friday much more,  had I not drank those last two vodka sodas.

Thursday nights in San Francisco are quite aggressive I must say. I had not been out on a Thursday in awhile and now I remember why...because people get crazy and a little too anxious that the weekend is almost upon them. In the back of their mind, they are thinking "Tomorrow is Friday, I have had a long week, why not start celebrating early?" My answer to that is "Because you will look like the girl in this picture hating life at work the next day!" I sympathize with this girl. I feel her pain. All I want to do is hide under my desk and avoid conversations. Also, downing coffee and caffeine is always standard procedure for men on days like this. Looking at the clock every 5 seconds, hoping it miraculously skips an hour or two. It's the worst!

The best is when I shower on a Friday morning and get all freshened up for work, and the first thing my coworker says to me when I walk in is "You smell like vodka". LOL. My response, "Oh, I'm glad you like my new scent, I went perfume testing last night and picked up a new bottle. It was between Monaghans and Tipsy Pig and I decided to go with Tipsy :)

Also....One recommendation. On days like this, avoid super glue. I had the brilliant idea of attempting to fix some sunglasses of mine using it, and what happened? Oh... it ended up ALL OVER my hands. I now have leprosy and my fingers are stuck together. LOL.

Happy Friday everyone. Enjoy your day, hungover or not hungover :)

Wear it Wednesdays : Halloween. Be Sexy, Funny, or Unique

With Halloween coming up, I thought I would focus my style edition this week on costumes! It is the one time of the year that dressing up is a must and being creative can be so fun. I think that there are three directions you could take your costume: sexy, funny, or unique. Here are some ideas for you all...

SEXY
Sexy Angry Bird

Sexy Viking
Sexy DJ Mouse :)

FUNNY

UNIQUE

Get creative...let your imagination run wild...maybe not as far as this Hooter chick. But you get my point. It is Halloween and it's time to party in style!

Taco Tuesdays: Savory Salads. Slim down for that Halloween Outfit!

Since Halloween is quickly approaching in less than three weeks, I find it to be perfect timing to share some of my favorite salad recipes and and take-out places that can help keep you on the healthy track to looking good in that Halloween costume you have been dying to wear! Now I must say these salads will not work miracles...but combined with exercise, can really boost your health and make for a great meal. So let the tossing begin!

Here are a couple easy recipes I have tried:

Mango and Steak Salad with Cilantro Dressing.
http://www.everydayhealth.com/health-recipe/mangosteak-salad-with-cilantro-dressing.aspx

Mixed Greens with Blue Cheese Crumbles, Fruit, and Balsamic Vinaigrette

What you need:
1. Bag of mixed lettuce, I usually go with a spring mix but any will work
2. 1 Mango
3. Blue cheese or gorgonzola crumbles
4. Tomatoes, the mini cherry tomatoes are perfect
5. 1 Apple
6. Balsamic vinaigrette (I like the balsamic dressing from Trader Joes and also Newman's brand)
7. 1 Avocado

This is my go-to weeknight salad. It is super simple to make. Just grab these items at Safeway or Trader Joe's , cut up all the fruit and veggies, and toss! Adding chicken is also great if you want to throw in some protein and eat it as a full meal.

Also, I am a huge fan of a good chinese chicken salad! Always tasty and often you can find sesame and ginger dressings at the store to make it even easier to prepare.

Good Salad Take-Out Places

1. Plutos:  Create your own salads here! This place is yummy, fast, and inexpensive. They have multiple locations in the city  http://www.plutosfreshfood.com/
2. Blue Barn: Located on Chestnut Street in the Marina, they have gourmet salads that are healthy and delicious. The ahi tuna salad is to die for there.  http://www.bluebarngourmet.com/
3. The Plant  http://www.theplantcafe.com/
4. Whole Foods Salad Bar: So many options to choose from and convenient when you want a salad to go.

My Favorite Salad in the City:   Hillstone's Thai Beef Noodle Salad. It's unreal... Also great place to go for a night out with friends or a date. They do not charge a corkage fee, so basically bottomless wine :)

Music Mondays: Sander Van Doorn @ Vessel, Treasure Island, & Marco faves

Lots going on in the music world this week in San Francisco. I swear every week there is an awesome DJ in town and that is one of the reasons I love this city so much.

Tomorrow night, one of the top house DJs in the world, Sander Van Doorn will be at Vessel Nightclub. While Tuesdays are not usually a typical "going out" night, you might want to consider checking Sander as he is becoming more and more popular with his electrifying beats.

He has a new song "Drink to Get Drunk" that is worth checking out!

Also, one of my alltime favorite remixes of his is Mumford and Sons "Little Lion Man"

For all of you music festival lovers out there, this weekend is Treasure Island Music Festival, which features some amazing artists. Headliners include Empire of the Sun, Cut Copy, and Chromeo on Saturday and Death Cab for Cutie and Beach House on Sunday. I went to TI last year and had a blast, although my one piece of advice to dress warm! It gets extremely cold at night so layer up! It is a great event with a wide variety of music, fun crowd of people, and even has a ferris wheel for all of you who aren't afraid of heights!

Sunday Funday: Fleet Week: 1 Me: 0

So I must say that after two weeks of taking a break from partying, coming into this past weekend, I felt refreshed and feeling good. After Saturday's fleet week festivities, I feel the exact opposite. HORRIBLE :( I definitely made up for lost time and now I can remember how much it sucks to be hungover!

Although I'm struggling a bit today, for how much fun I had...it was worth it! My friends and I all met at Fort Mason in the Marina to watch the Blue Angels show and let's just say we all had a pretty amazing time. The weather was perfect, we had Kaskade blasting on the blockrocker, and plenty of drinks to keep the partying going all day. The highlight of the air show for everyone was when the United 747 flew over the bay so close to the water we almost thought it was going down!

After Fort Mason, the party moved from house party to Brickyard and then of course Mas Sake. And guess who we stumbled upon there? The ever-so-popular Giant's beard man....Brian Wilson. So my friend Jessica thought...hey why not ask to take a picture with him? His response..."Uh okay." From this picture you can tell he's super excited !!! LOL. Seems like we weren't the only ones with the idea since I have seen multiple pictures of him with people I know from that night surfacing on Facebook. No wonder why he gets annoyed!

Then after Mas, it was off to Noble to finish off the night. LA DJ Ecto Cooler put on a great set that was full of energy and had the crowd dancing all night. I really enjoyed him spinning, although the one thing he could lose is his little obnoxious "assistant" who was riding his coattails all night and trying to woo girls to talk to him! Get a life dude, you're not that cool. When you become Deadmau5 or Kaskade little B****, that is a whole different story!

Anyways, to wrap it up, I had a great weekend! It was definitely fun, but I'm exhausted and need a break!
